My name is Gus Johnson. I have lived in rural Illinois (U.S.) my whole life. I have many hobbies, including carpentry, tent camping, and fishing, I am actively involved in my church, and I love spending time with my wife, my family, and my friends. My wife and I met while studying Music Education at Illinois State University (Go 'Birds!), and we currently live in Minonk, IL.
When I'm not driving a forklift for our local lumberyard to make ends meet, I'm learning about music composition and audio production, working on music for church or clients or friends, or making music for pleasure.
My goal is to create music which is composed well, arranged well, and produced well. I love using a variety of styles and techniques, primarily focused around instrumental ensembles (electronic and acoustic). I believe that the future of music will involve electronic musicians and acoustic musicians collaborating to push the envelope of quality and exploration.
Some of my past achievements include:
2014 - Winner - Urbana Pops Orchestra Composition Contest
2019 - Winner - Young Composers Forum's Composition Competition
